
HMAA is dedicated to providing affordable health insurance benefits to its members and their families. Founded in 1989, HMAA offers highly
competitive financial products and services, including innovative healthcare plans, self-funded third-party administration services, and
other insurance products designed specifically for small to medium-sized businesses in Hawaii.
In October 1990, HMAA began operating as a healthcare insurer, and has established a strong financial base and has maintained consistent
growth. The Association’s success in this field is due to its ability to extend superior healthcare benefits at competitive rates, to offer
the highest levels of choice and flexibility, and to provide special benefits and services traditionally available only to large employers.
According to Small Business Hawaii, of the 26,000 companies in Hawaii, 98% are considered small businesses. HMAA designs its health plans
specifically for these firms. The association delivers exceptional, one-to-one personalized service and strives to make the business of
healthcare simple so that member firms can focus their time and money on more critical business issues. HMAA believes its flexible health
plans can improve a company’s bottom line and be used as an asset to attract and retain employees.
